Why Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner Remains Grounded

If you’re wondering why Boeing’s flagship 787 Dreamliner remains grounded, here’s a good explanation.  Tesla owner and SpaceX founder Elon Musk says the battery pack used by Boeing is flawed.

“Unfortunately, the pack architecture supplied to Boeing  is inherently unsafe. Large cells without enough space between them to isolate  against the cell-to-cell thermal domino effect means it is simply a matter of  time before there are more incidents of this nature.”

If you’re waiting to take a ride on Boeing’s newest 787 aircraft, you may have to wait a bit longer.  It appears there are a few issues yet to be resolved. Apparently both Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines had reliability issues with batteries on their 787 aircraft long before the 787 was grounded.
