NAR: Existing Home Sales At 3-Year Low In January

The National Association of Realtors reported that existing home sales for January posted at a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of 4.94 million. This was 1.2 percent lower than the December reading, and 8.5 percent lower than the same time a year ago. The median price of a resale home sold in January was $247,500 while the average price of a U.S. resale property sold in January was $286,800. Lennar Homes Misses Q4 Sales & Order Estimates, KB Net Order Value Declines 21%

Lennar Homes posted higher revenue and income for the fourth quarter of 2018, but new home sales and orders for Lennar missed analyst estimates. Accounting for Lennar's absorption of CalAtlantic the company's 14,154 home sales still fell short of analyst estimates for 14,485. The bigger concern for Lennar is likely the 5 percent miss on orders which came in at 10,611 instead of the analyst estimate of 11,774. Denton County Existing Home Sales Decline 11% In October

Denton County existing home sales declined 11 percent in the month of October. Sales of existing single-family homes were a bit softer still. The Census Bureau reported new home sales for July at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 627,000. That translates to a 1.7% decline from June's pace but up 12.8% year-over-year. The median price of a new home contracted in July was $328,700, an increase of 1.7%. The average price of a new home sold (contracted) in July posted at $394,300, a rise of 5.9%.
