Today the National Association of Realtors reported that existing home sales for August came in flat from last month, actually down about 1.5% from this time last year. The median price of an existing home sold in the U.S. during the month of August posted at $264,800, a rise of 4.6 percent year-over-year and the 78th consecutive month of year-over-year price gains. Denton County home sales edged up slightly during May with closed sales rising roughly 3 percent compared to a year ago. Sales of new construction were a bit softer than resales during May due to inventory mixes. Denton County home prices hit a new record high in March with the average price of a Denton County home posting at just over $360,000. Median home prices for Denton County also hit a new all-time high rising to almost $320,000. That was a jump of 8 percent from March of last year.
