Existing Home Sales Lowest In 3 Years With 4.1% September Drop

The National Association of Realtors reported the lowest levels for existing U.S. home sales in 3 years. Sales of existing homes posted at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5,115,000 for September, down from August numbers which were also revised lower. The year-over-year decline in existing home sales of 4.1 percent puts sales levels back to where they were three years ago. Existing home inventory at 1.88 million homes was up slightly from last year's 1.86 million units. Existing Home Sales Soften As New Home Permits Stall

Today the National Association of Realtors reported that existing home sales for August came in flat from last month, actually down about 1.5% from this time last year. The median price of an existing home sold in the U.S. during the month of August posted at $264,800, a rise of 4.6 percent year-over-year and the 78th consecutive month of year-over-year price gains. New Home Sales Miss Expectations In June Despite Lower Prices

The Census Bureau reported new home sales for June at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 631,000. This was below expectations, and a 5.3 percent decline from May. The previous three months were also revised lower. Compared to last June, new home sales were up a modest 2.4%. Surprisingly, the decline in new construction sales came despite lower median and average prices for new homes in June. The median price of $302,100 was $13,100 less than last year. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) says existing home sales in the U.S. decreased in May to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.43 million. This is down from a downwardly revised April figure, and the third consecutive month of declining year-over-year sales. April Existing Home Sales Soften 2.5%

The National Association of Realtors reported a 2.5 percent slide in existing home sales for April. That translates to a 1.4 percent decline compared to last year. According to NAR the median price of an existing home sold in April was $257,900, a rise  of 5.3 percent compared to last year. The average price of an existing home was $297,300, an increase of 3.3 percent compared to last year. New Home Sales Climb In March With Lower Average Prices

The Census Bureau reported that new home sales in the United States climbed to a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of 694,000 in March. This represents a sales increase of almost 9 percent compared to last year. Sales for January and February were also revised higher. The median price of a home sold in March was $337,200 while the average price of a new home contracted in March was $369,900 according to Census estimates. Existing Home Sales Slump 4.8% In January, Denton County Sees 2.5% Rise

The National Association of Realtors reported that existing home sales slumped 4.8 percent in January. Despite a month-over-month increase in available inventory, existing home sales still came in softer than expected. The median price of an existing home was $240,500 in January, an increase of 5.8 percent from a year ago. New Home Sales Get Reality Check In December As Median Prices Hit Record High

Following yesterday's relatively weak existing home sales numbers from NAR, December new home sales posted at at seasonally adjusted annual rate of 625,000. That was a 9 percent drop from the euphoric November new home sales numbers, which were revised sharply lower along with October numbers. The median price of a new home in the U.S. hit a new high of $335,400 while the average price rose to $398,900. New home sales jumped 26.6 percent compared to November of last year. The Census Bureau reported that new home sales for November posted at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 733,000. This was well above expectations, and a 17.5 percent increase from the revised October numbers. New home sales continued to enjoy a hurricane-related boost in October. The Census Bureau reported new single-family home sales at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 685,000, up 6.2 percent from revised September numbers and 18.7 percent higher than a year ago.
