The Census Bureau reported new home sales for January at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 923,000 units. That's a 4.3 percent increase from revised December figures and 19.3 percent higher than January of last year. Previous months were also revised higher. New home sales were revised lower in November. The Census Bureau reported new home sales at a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of 841,000 units last month. New home sales were still up 20.8% compared to last year, but sales dropped 11 percent from the revised October figure of 945,000 units. August and September were also revised lower. The Census Bureau reported new home sales for June at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 776,000. That was a 13.8% jump from May sales and a 6.9% increase compared to June 2019. This was far better than June existing home sales reported by the National Association of Realtors this week which were still down 11.3% compared to the same time a year ago. Denton County New Homes See Sales Boost With Covid Recovery

Denton County new homes experienced a dramatic Covid-19 sales recovery last month. While closings of new construction were down 7 percent during the month, pending sales of new construction in Denton County skyrocketed 42 percent. New home buyers in the DFW housing market are getting squeezed. Despite the continued trend of lower overall new home prices, the price buyers are paying on a square foot basis continues to shoot higher. U.S. New Home Sales Fall 9.5% To 627,000 SAAR

The Census Bureau reported new home sales (contracts) for March at a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of 627,000. That was 15.4 percent below the revised February rate and down 9.5% from the same time a year ago. The Census Bureau reported new home sales for December at a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of 694,000. This was slightly lower than downwardly-revised November figures, but up 23 percent compared to December 2018 when the markets were sliding off a cliff. The median price of a new house sold in December 2019 was $331,400 while the average sales price was $384,500.
