So far in 2019 the trend of more jobs in the area is still intact. Dallas-Fort Worth employment numbers show that the DFW economy was still on solid footing in December. While local job growth has been slowing a bit, the economy has been rather resilient. The Texas unemployment rate (at least the statistically massaged headline unemployment rate) hit an historic low in October at 3.7 percent. DFW Adds 10,000 Jobs In June, CPI Still Running Hot

The DFW area tacked on another 10,000 jobs during the month of June according to numbers released by the Texas Workforce Commission. That was more than a third of the 27,200 positions gained in Texas during the month. The Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington (DFW) region posted another month of solid employment gains in May, tacking on an additional 20,200 jobs compared to April according to non-adjusted numbers from the Texas Workforce Commission. For the 12-month period in May, the DFW area has added 122,000 jobs. This kept the official unemployment rate for the Dallas-Fort Worth area at 3.4 percent. Dallas TX Employment Engine Sheds 59,000 Jobs In January Turnover

The Dallas TX employment engine was misfiring as we headed into 2018. Recently revised figures from the Texas Workforce Commission show the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington MSA shedding 59,000 jobs in January. While it is typical for the January numbers to decline after the holiday turnover, the 59,000 jobs lost in January represents the highest seasonal turnover loss in several years. Dallas TX employment continues to march higher. September brought an increase of 15,600 jobs compared to revised August figures. The Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington MSA region added 93,600 jobs during the past year according to numbers from the Texas Workforce Commission.
